MSWT: Towering tribute to a true champion

Dedicated to celebrating the legend of the F1 Champion, the upcoming Michael Schumacher World Tower at Gurgaon raises a toast to the champion's lifestyle and offers a peek into his world, writes Rajesh Kulkarni.

It's a tribute befitting the iconic status of a living legend and FI racer that is Michael Schumacher, the seven-time Formula One world champion and one of the greatest FI drivers of all times. Aptly named, the Michael Schumacher World Tower (MSWT), this towering, high-rise will feature 110 limited-edition triplex penthouses is not just a building, but the embodiment of the legend of Schumacher, his spirit and ceaseless zeal.

A project by the Homestead group, MSWT is located at Sector 109, Dwarka Expressway, Gurgaon and showcases the engineering brilliance of the London-based international practice Upton Hansen Architects (UHA) and is being developed by Shapoorji Pallonji. This imposing 99.5m structure will be built using reinforced concrete, to maximize the clear floor to ceiling heights for its residents.

Certain key structural components such as the helipad and the structure of the dome from the top of the tower will be fabricated from steel.To enhance the overall look and feel of the project, the glazed envelope uses clear glass with high performance coatings, ensuring maximum visibility while simultaneously minimizing the solar glare.

The lavish design of the project is a celebration of the champion racer's glory and rich lifestyle, while the specially engineered aerodynamic curves of the tower wrapped in three-dimensional metallic ribbon reminiscence the high and lows of the racetrack that Schumacher conquered ever so effortlessly.

Arrive in true celebrity style at the cantilevered helipad which in turn is inspired by the suspension members of a Formula One car and is located at the very apex of this tower. The project is designed to leave you spellbound from the very moment you arrive at the exotic entrance foyer of the tower where the shimmering fountains of the entrance foyer make way for serene water bodies and sinuous curves of the reception foyer.
